Today we are considering demands under 2 headings

  • unexpected

Why is this important?

If feeling ‘safe’ is the opposite of stress then avoiding feeling unsafe can help prevent stress. We will look at techniques for restoring balance later in the week but today I want to look at how to prevent as much stress as possible.

What you actually need to do:

We have defined stress as the gap between demands and resources

  • Consider when you might expect this to occur  – list your expected demand/resource gaps (stressors) in your fertility notebook. For example; the week before payday used to be a stressor for me, but being self employed means I pay myself so it is no longer an issue.
  • Now consider how much room there is in your general schedule for unexpected demands.
  • How do you cope when unexpected things happen?
